Fiji cultured pearls are an innovation from Justin Hunter, one of the best pearl farmers in the world. On his farms on Fiji in the West-Pacific, he combines the highest social and ecological standards with impressive farming skills. He is regarded as a pioneer in the industry and sees Gellner as a kindred spirit, which enables us to be one of the few companies to have a license for Hunter auctions.
Fiji cultured pearls have an almost perfect surface structure with a very dense mother-of-pearl quality, which is the reason for their particularly strong lustre. Their colour spectrum ranges from rich green, gold and bronze tones to nuances of aubergine. They are cultivated in the Pinctada Margaritifera oyster and reach an average size of 10.5 mm; sizes of up to 18 mm are possible albeit more rare.
